The 14th Dalai Lama is the current incarnation of Tsongkhapa, the first recognized Dalai Lama, and the head of the Gelupa lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. The holders of this lineage are reborn as Tulkus. They are found by a team of lamas who search for the new Dalai Lama, based on instruction from the previous holder. Unlike his predecessors, the 14th Dalai Lama is world renowned, and has given teachings in almost all of the Western countries.
