During the 1960's-1970’s, many Tibetan lamas began to come to the United States and Europe, introducing Dharma teachings. This resulted in many of the advanced students entering three year retreats, producing Western lamas, who could teach the Dharma in English. These Western lamas then continued the original tradition of Tibetan Vajrayana in their native languages.
