The Shambhala tradition became known due to Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. It was his wish to create a kind of parallel practice to Buddhism, based on the early mythological Kingdom of Shambhala. This history involves a lineage of 25 Shambhala kings and many guardians, as depicted in these thangkas.
