The Buddhist stupa is a symbolic representation of the Buddha’s body, from his crossed legs on his throne, up to his head and beyond. Stupas also correspond with the five archetypal elements— the yellow square earth element represents the base, the blue circle water element represents the bumpa, or mid-section, the red triangle fire element represents the spire, the green half circle wind element corresponds with the parasol, and the white tear shape space element represents the moon and sun and top jewel, representing enlightenment.
